State of Chamblee? Lower millage, bigger surplus

In his third annual state of the city address, delivered to the Chamblee Business Association Thursday, Mayor Eric Clarkson had a lot of good news to talk about, from being able to lower the millage rate to giving employees a pay raise.

“Things look great in Chamblee,” said Clarkson. The mayor praised what he called a “strong, effective and committed city council” that reduced the city millage rate from 7.95 to 7.40 mills. With a budget surplus of $3.5 million, Clarkson said he would like the council to reduce the millage again this year, “to get closer to six mills.”
