The City of Chamblee is working through the process of purchasing two parcels totaling 25-acres, land deals that will add more than 33% to the City’s greenspace inventory. The price tag for these acquisitions is roughly $4.6 million. Chamblee Mayor Eric Clarkson said these two additions will “enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors and marks a significant investment in two areas of the city that were recently annexed.”
The larger almost 17-acre tract, formerly known as Jim Hearn Golf Center at 4445 Buford Highway, is under contract for $4.5 million. That deal is expected to close in September. “This effort will preserve existing green space, protect the nearby stream and offer expanded recreational activities adjacent to Dresden Park,” the City says.
